Max Healthcare CMD Abhay Soi pays Rs 400 crore tax, Recieves recognition by IT Dept
Mumbai: Max Healthcare Chairman and Managing Director Abhay Soi has been recognised as one of the highest individual taxpayers in the country for the fiscal year 2022-23.
This recognition, by the Income Tax Department, Mumbai, underscores Abhay Soi’s commitment towards nation-building and his desire to be an active partner in the growth and inclusive development of India.
Abhay Soi, who had paid an income tax of approximately Rs 400 crore in the assessment year 2023-24 has been recognised as the “Top Individual tax payers having gross tax payable > Rs 10 Lakhs”.

Abhay Soi is a first-generation Entrepreneur and has been largely credited with the transformation of Max Healthcare and expanding the hospital network rapidly. Max Healthcare is the one of the largest publicly listed hospital chains in India with a market cap of over USD 10bn while reserving 7.5% of its beds for free service to patients from economically weaker sections of society. It is a network of 20 hospitals with over 4000 bed capacity and employs over 27,900 personnel.
Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais presided over the 165th Income Tax Day celebrations organised by the Income Tax Department Mumbai at Kautilya Bhavan, BKC, Mumbai. July 24 commemorates the introduction of Income Tax in India on the same date in the year 1860.
To celebrate the contribution of tax-payers, the Income Tax Department felicitated top tax-payers in certain pre-defined categories, as directed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
