The parents, residents of Ghaziabad's Khoda colony, went to ESI hospital on Tuesday, where the mother was admitted for delivery. A police official said, "After delivery, the woman was shifted to the ward. Today, when the woman woke up in the morning, the child was not on her bed. Upon being informed about it, the local police reached the spot and began an inquiry."
The official further told the PTI, "The police then checked CCTV cameras of the hospital in which a woman was seen carrying the child. This happened around 4.30 am today."
The baby's father said that his wife was admitted to the hospital at 7 am on Tuesday. However, he added, their joy turned into sorrow when they found out that their baby was missing at around 4.30 am on Wednesday.
The parents eventually lodged a complaint at the local police station. The police registered an FIR based on the complaint and immediately began an investigation.
As per a media report in The Indian Express, During the investigation, police said they found CCTV footage from the hospital showing the accused walking with the baby in her hands. “There are almost 100-150 CCTVs in the hospital, but a majority of them either aren’t working or have blurred footage. We then found 1-2 cameras which clearly show the accused with the victim. At present, we don’t have a clue about her identity and whereabouts,” said another officer.
