Parvathipuram-Manyam District Hospital earns 3 National Quality Certifications

Parvathipuram-Manyam district hospital secured NQAS, LaQshya and MusQan certifications after scoring above 90% in all three assessments.
Parvathipuram-Manyam: Parvathipuram-Manyam district hospital has earned national recognition after securing certifications under three major healthcare quality programmes, scoring above 90% in the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative (LaQshya) and MusQan assessments.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has formally communicated the three certifications to the hospital. The hospital will also receive an annual incentive grant of Rs 15 lakh for three years, calculated at Rs 10,000 per bed, which is expected to provide financial support for further hospital development.
The district Medical and Health Department had applied for NQAS certification for the district hospital. Subsequently, a team from the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) inspected the facility for assessments under NQAS, LaQshya and MusQan. The hospital underwent a two-phase evaluation covering multiple departments and service areas.

Under NQAS, the hospital secured a score of 93% across 16 departments. Introduced by the NHSRC under the National Quality Assurance Programme, evaluates public health facilities on areas including maternal, child and adolescent healthcare, diagnostics and disease management, reports The New Indian Express.
The hospital also achieved 94% under MusQan, which assessed four departments - the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), paediatric ward, paediatric OP and Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC). The MusQan initiative focuses on ensuring quality and child-friendly healthcare services for children up to 12 years while reducing preventable newborn and child morbidity and mortality.
Under LaQshya, the hospital recorded 97% in the Maternity Operation Theatre and 97.68% in the labour room, placing it among the top-performing hospitals in the district.
Following scores exceeding 90% in all three assessments, the NHSRC awarded the hospital Platinum Discs in each of the three categories.
Speaking to TNIE, District Coordinator of Hospital Services (DCHS) Dr Nagabhusana Rao said, “The quality of the service has increased with the combined efforts of the hospital staff, district officials and public. The ‘Helping Hands’ initiative introduced by the district Collector Prabhakar Reddy has helped to increase the quality of health services in government hospitals. These three prestigious certifications, along with Platinum Discs, from the Union Ministry of Health will boost staff morale and provide financial aid for hospital development.”
