Patient jumps to death from Jharkhand hospital, probe underway

Chaibasa: In an unfortunate incident, a 40-year-old patient died after allegedly jumping from the third floor of a Sadar hospital in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district on Sunday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Pradhan Honhaga, who had been undergoing treatment at the Sadar Hospital for the past few days, they said.
“He jumped from the third floor of the hospital around 3 am,” a police officer said, news agency PTI reported.

An investigation has been started to probe into the incident, he said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further action will be taken based on the report’s findings. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the hospital premises and speaking to staff and other patients to determine whether any lapse in supervision or safety protocols occurred.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are awaiting the post-mortem and forensic reports before drawing any conclusions.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a 30-year-old patient died after allegedly jumping from a district hospital building in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district, police said. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district, around 450 km from Bhopal. The deceased person has been identified as Shubham Ahirwar, a resident of Emlayi village in Damoh.
