Power outage forces Palwal Hospital doctors to use phone flashlights during c-section

Haryana: The Haryana health authorities have ordered an inquiry after a power outage at Palwal District Civil Hospital reportedly forced doctors to complete a caesarean section using mobile phone flashlights. The hospital's emergency backup system also reportedly failed, further complicating the situation.
The investigation will examine the cause of the power outage and determine whether there were any lapses in maintaining the hospital's emergency power infrastructure. Both the mother and the newborn are reported to be safe.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the incident occurred around 10 pm on Thursday while doctors were performing the C-section. Hospital officials said the electricity supply failed during the surgery, and the battery backup system also did not function, forcing the medical team to continue the procedure using mobile phone flashlights. The power outage reportedly lasted for nearly four hours.
A video purportedly showing doctors performing the surgery in near darkness with mobile phone torches later surfaced on social media, raising concerns over the hospital's emergency preparedness and infrastructure. However, the authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.
