Rohtak: In a move to address the long-standing issue of delayed medical reimbursements, the authorities of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), have established a dedicated Medical Reimbursement Cell. The initiative is designed to handle such cases and ensure the timely payment of medical expenses to employees.
The University has implemented an online submission system for medical bills to expedite their processing, aiming to provide relief to beneficiaries who have experienced delays spanning several months. Additionally, a three-week deadline has been established for clearing these bills, with accountability now assigned to the relevant officials to ensure timely resolution.
The initiative comes in response to over 400 pending cases related to medical reimbursements, many of which have been delayed for several months. These delays have caused frustration among UHS employees and retirees, who have often visited the university or contacted officials repeatedly to follow up on their claims.

He mentioned that superannuated employees of the UHS and PGIMS were living in various districts across the state, with some residing in other states as well. Previously, these retirees had to visit the UHS in person to get their medical bills reimbursed. However, with the new system in place, they no longer need to make such visits. Retirees can now submit their bills online and receive reimbursement within the designated three-week timeframe. The introduction of this streamlined process and online system addresses the significant delays that have occurred due to the lack of an efficient mechanism.
“The cell will be manned by additional staff, including a Deputy Superintendent, a pharmacist and a clerk, who will settle all pending medical claims within two months. The cell will provide regular updates on the status of the medical bills to the beneficiaries through email. The officials will submit the progress report of the cell to my office every month,” said Dr Aggarwal.
