Punjab: Punjabi university signs MoU with 15 hospitals, labs to provide health services to employees
Patiala: In a bid to provide health services to its employees, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Punjabi University and 15 other prestigious Hospitals, Labs, and Radiology Centres of Patiala.
The working or retired employees and their family members will get healthcare services at the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates. For this purpose, the employees are required to show their ID cards and the health cards of their family members.
The 15 empanelled hospitals include Excel Health Care, Sodhi Eye Hospital, Alpha Radiology Centre, Jeevan Hospital, Neelam Hospital, Rapid Laboratory, Balaji Heart and Eye Centre, Nitin Mindcare, Kakkar Eye and Orbit Scan Centre, Ess Ell Diagnostics, Medlink Hospital and IVF Centre, Nawal Hospital, Patiala Eye Hospital, Bhatia Hospital, and Park Hospital.

Regina Maini, SMO, Punjabi University, said, "Earlier, 15 hospitals were empanelled with us. Now, university employees (both retired and working) and their dependents can get various services offered by more hospitals at the CGHS rates on production of ID cards and government health cards."
Dr Regina, Vice Chancellor Prof. Arvind, Dr Tiwari, Registrar, Dr Navjot Kaur, Dean Research, Dr Manjit Paterh and Finance Officer Dr Parmod Agarwal were present, Royal Patiala reports.
For the last six decades, Central Government Health Scheme has provided comprehensive medical care to the Central Government employees and pensioners enrolled. CGHS is the model Health care facility provider for Central Government employees & Pensioners and is unique of its kind due to the large volume of the beneficiary base, and open ended generous approach of providing health care.
Presently approximately 41 lakh beneficiaries are covered by CGHS in 75 cities all over India and the endeavour is to include more cities to improve the accessibility of the services. The medical facilities are provided through Wellness Centres and polyclinics under Allopathic, Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha, and Homeopathic systems of medicine.
