Rajasthan approves cashless treatment for Ayushman cardholders at Gujarat hospitals
Rajasthan Government Eases Access to Healthcare with Nationwide Ayushman Coverage
Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has approved cashless treatment for Ayushman cardholders in hospitals across India, including Gujarat, under both the Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana. This “outbound portability” of benefits will come into effect from 15 December 2025.
The development follows a request from Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, who, in a letter to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on November 20, highlighted complaints from residents that Rajasthan’s Ayushman card holders were not receiving free treatment in Gujarat. Acting on this request, the Chief Minister approved the proposal on December 12.

The initiative is expected to benefit patients suffering from serious illnesses, including cancer, kidney, and heart diseases, who often face financial difficulties while seeking treatment in Gujarat. Under the scheme, beneficiaries are provided coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh.
Recognised hospitals in Gujarat will now provide cashless treatment to Rajasthan patients under both Ayushman Bharat and the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya schemes. The decision will bring relief to patients from southern Rajasthan who frequently travel to Gujarat for medical care, reports Bhaskar English.
As per the news reports by NDTV Rajasthan, in Rajasthan, 1.36 crore families are registered under the Chief Minister's Ayushman Arogya Yojana. Under the scheme, an average of 8,200 patients in the state are provided medical care worth approximately Rs 9.42 crore every day. Patients in Gujarat will not need any separate registration for treatment.
Following the MP’s intervention, CM Bhajanlal Sharma directed the state administration to ensure “outbound portability” for Rajasthan Ayushman cardholders. From December 15 onwards, patients can now receive cashless treatment anywhere in India, including Gujarat, without bearing the cost of medical care.
