Safdarjung Hospital refrains staff from sharing work-related content on social media, Warns of Disciplinary action
New Delhi: The centre-run Safdarjung Hospital administration has issued a cautionary notice, stating that any staff members who are discovered sharing unofficial content related to their assigned tasks or job responsibilities on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, including status updates, may face suspension or termination.
Indicating that posting such content could potentially harm the reputation of the hospital, the administration has prohibited its staff members from posting any content on social media platforms that criticizes their assigned work or uses unofficial or inappropriate language. Furthermore, it mentioned that employees who do not adhere to this policy will be subject to disciplinary actions, such as suspension or termination.
In a circular issued by the deputy director (admin) Ashok Kumar Pal, "It has been observed that some staff members have been posting such content. This should serve as a strict reminder that any such action is strictly prohibited."
This comes after some doctors from the hospital recently criticised directions issued by the administration in their Whatsapp groups. After receiving the information, the administration issued the guidelines, The Indian Express reports.
"It will be effective immediately and all personnel must comply with the laid-down guidelines. This includes refraining from posting any content that may tarnish the hospital's reputation, unfairly criticising tasks assigned by supervisors, or employing unofficial or inappropriate language as outlined in the prohibited content section.
Employees who fail to adhere to the given instructions will face the consequences in accordance with the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964. The management may impose penalties such as suspension, termination or other disciplinary measures as they see fit, based on the severity of the violation. The decision regarding the appropriate disciplinary action will be at the discretion of the management," reads the circular.
As per a TOI news report, the circular further added, "Staff members are required to uphold the utmost professional standards in all their interactions, whether in person or on digital platforms. If any issue or complaint arises, they should be communicated via the appropriate official processes within the organisation, not aired publicly on social networking sites."
