SCB Medical College attendant arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting ICU patient

SCBMCH Faces Scrutiny After ICU Patient Allegedly Molested by Attendant
Cuttack: SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack is under scrutiny after a 25-year-old outsourced male attendant, posing as a doctor, allegedly molested a 19-year-old female patient in the ICU of the new medicine ward. The accused was arrested on Sunday following a complaint by the victim’s family.
According to the news reports, the incident took place on Saturday when the accused, employed through an outsourcing agency, took advantage of a lapse in supervision. Two nurses were on duty in the ICU; one stepped out while the other was occupied with paperwork.
Speaking to TNIE, a senior police officer said, “As per the victim’s mother, an outsourced staff member posing as a doctor touched her daughter inappropriately while she was undergoing treatment in the ICU.”
A formal complaint was filed, and police immediately began an investigation. The accused was identified through CCTV footage verification and arrested from his residence in Macchua Bazar within 24 hours of registration of the case. Police have forwarded the accused to court and begun a detailed investigation into the allegations.
SCBMCH superintendent Prof. Gautam Satapathy declined to provide further details regarding the case.
The shocking incident has sparked widespread concern over the safety and security of female patients at the hospital, especially in critical care units.
