Snakebite patient arrives at Bihar Hospital with live cobra, sparks panic

Bihar: Chaos erupted at a government hospital in Bihar after a snakebite patient arrived with the live cobra that had allegedly bitten him. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing the man opening a box containing the snake and leaving the patients and hospital staff shocked.
The incident took place at Sadar Hospital in East Champaran district, where the patient received treatment and was kept under observation.
Following the incident, doctors have urged the public not to replicate such behaviour. They advised that in case of a snakebite, individuals should avoid trying to catch, handle, or transport the snake, as such actions can increase the risk of further injury and endanger both the victim and others around them.
According to reports, the patient was bitten while trying to rescue a baby cobra. Instead of leaving the snake behind, he reportedly caught it, placed it inside a small container and carried it to the hospital before seeking medical care.
The situation took an unexpected turn when the patient opened the container inside the hospital to show doctors the snake that had allegedly bitten him. The sight of the live cobra caused panic among patients, attendants and hospital staff, with many moving away from the area while others watched from a safe distance. Videos of the incident later surfaced on social media.
Hospital doctors immediately examined the patient and started treatment for the snakebite. After providing first aid and assessing his condition, they found him to be stable. As a precaution, he was kept under medical observation for around 12 hours before further evaluation.
According to India Today, doctors advised that anyone bitten by a snake should avoid trying to catch it and instead seek immediate medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility, allowing trained professionals to manage the case safely.
