Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences Puttaparthi inaugurates advanced cardiac cath lab

Puttaparthi- In a significant development in cardiac care, a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory was inaugurated at the Cardiology Department of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram, on Wednesday.
The new Cath Lab, a Shimadzu Trinias C-12 system worth ₹3.78 crore, was commissioned by R. J. Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, in the presence of Director of SSSIHMS Prasanthigram Dr. Gurumurthy, Ms Anjanadevi from the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council, Zone 1-USA, and senior staff members of the hospital, reports UNI.
This marks the second advanced cardiac catheterisation laboratory to be commissioned at the hospital within a span of around two years.
Speaking on the occasion, Rathnakar highlighted the vision of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in providing advanced healthcare services free of cost to all patients, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, race or nationality.
“To date, the Cardiology department has performed around 16 lakh patient consultations. This new advanced system will further strengthen the hands of our doctors and surgeons to deliver even better patient care,” he said.
A Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, commonly known as a Cath Lab, is a specialised facility used for minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases.
According to the hospital, the Shimadzu Trinias C-12 is an advanced ceiling-mounted digital angiography system designed for interventional cardiology.
It features AI-based image processing technology that provides high-quality imaging with reduced radiation exposure, while enabling better visualisation of fine blood vessels and improved workflow efficiency.
The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust stated that it would continue to uphold the service ideals of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba through its healthcare and welfare initiatives.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday approved an extensive preventive healthcare plan, including 47 types of medical tests for people identified through surveys as having lifestyle diseases.
