Swami Dayanand Hospital to get 100-bed critical care unit

New Delhi: A new 100-bed Critical Care Unit equipped with ICU and emergency operation theatre facilities will be constructed at Swami Dayanand Hospital, Mayor Pravesh Wahi said on Friday.
The announcement was made during the mayor's inspection of the hospital in Dilshad Garden, where he reviewed patient facilities, sanitation and preparedness amid prevailing heatwave conditions.
Speaking during the visit, Wahi said the upcoming unit under the 'Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat'-Health Infrastructure Mission, would strengthen healthcare infrastructure in East Delhi and reduce the need for referrals to other hospitals, reports PTI.

According to the Mayor, the new facility would include an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Nursery, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and an emergency operation theatre.
"The construction of the Critical Care Unit (CCU) will enable residents of East Delhi to access better medical treatment closer to their homes," Wahi added.
During the inspection, the mayor also inaugurated a newly constructed air-conditioned waiting room for attendants of patients and instructed officials to install additional benches for public convenience.
According to officials, around 4,000 patients visit the hospital's OPD daily. The mayor reviewed arrangements made to tackle heatwave conditions, including additional beds, ORS availability and cooling facilities, and directed officials to further strengthen sanitation measures at the hospital.
Wahi also instructed officials to improve accommodation arrangements for nursing staff, install water sprinklers in the hospital park and operationalise air coolers after proper cleaning.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that to address long-standing gaps in women's healthcare, a multispecialty hospital dedicated exclusively to women, The Women's Hospital (TWH), was inaugurated on Wednesday in Nehru Enclave, South Delhi.
The hospital was founded by entrepreneur Anika Parashar and has received an investment of $5 million from various investors. Spanning 30,000 square feet, this facility aims to provide integrated healthcare services to women at all stages of life, ranging from adolescence and reproductive health to menopause, ageing, and cancer care.
