Telangana Govt awards 3 super specialty hospitals construction contracts to L&T, MEIL
Hyderabad: The much-awaited project of the Telangana government to construct three new super specialty hospitals i.e Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) at a cost of Rs 2679 crores in Sanath Nagar, L B Nagar and Alwal has taken a step ahead with contracts being awarded to three firms.
The tenders for the construction of the hospitals have been approved by the Commissionerate of Tenders to three firms namely, Larsen and Toubro, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited and DEC Infrastructure and Projects (India) Private Limited. Following this, a Letter of Agreement has been issued to the three firms.
Earlier, the government sanctioned the three hospitals in LB Nagar of Ranga Reddy with a cost of Rs. 900 crores, Sanath Nagar of Hyderabad district at a cost of Rs. 882 Crore, and Alwal of Medchal- Malkajgiri district at a cost of Rs. 897 crores respectively.

However, the mentioned amount for the said hospitals has been revised, with Larsen and Toubro Limited getting the contract for TIMS LB Nagar at a value of Rs.668 crore whereas Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited has bagged the contract for TIMS Sanathnagar at a cost of Rs.667 crore. In the end, DEC Infrastructure and Projects (India) Private Limited won the TIMS, Alwal contract worth Rs.669 crore, The Siasat Daily reports.
The new upcoming hospitals will function as autonomous institutes like the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) providing advanced healthcare treatments to the people of the selected residential area.
Medical dialogues team had earlier reported that the Telangana Government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 2,679 crore towards the construction of three super-speciality hospitals in and around Hyderabad.
People traveling from the districts for treatment could benefit from the establishment of additional hospitals. Patients from the districts of Sangareddy, Siddipet, and Adilabad would benefit from the hospital at Alwal, and the patients from the districts of Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet would benefit from the hospital at LB Nagar. People from the surrounding areas would benefit from the hospital at Sanathnagar.

The foundation stone for the super-specialty hospitals was laid by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in April last year.
According to a media report in Newsmeter, the new hospitals will provide Post-graduate medical education in 16 specialties and 15 super-specialty courses in addition to nursing and para-medical courses.
The 1,000 bedded three super-speciality hospitals will function with 200 faculty members along with 500 resident doctors approximately. The hospital will also be equipped with 26 operation theatres and will provide chemotherapy, dialysis CT scans, and MRI services.
