Telangana's Peddapalli Govt Hospital to get Rs 51 crore upgrade, bed capacity to double

The Telangana government hospital has delivered medical services worth over Rs 131 crore in two years and is set for a Rs 51 crore expansion to a 100-bed facility.
Peddapalli: Telangana's Peddapalli District Government Hospital has recorded a significant expansion in public healthcare delivery, providing medical services valued at over Rs 131 crore in the past two years. The hospital is also set for a major infrastructure boost, with the government approving a Rs 51 crore project to increase its bed capacity from 50 to 100.
The information was shared by Government Whip and Peddapalli MLA Mr Chinthakunta Vijayaramana Rao after he inspected hospital wards and interacted with patients to review healthcare services. Addressing a press conference, the MLA outlined the hospital's recent progress in patient care, infrastructure, and medical equipment.
According to Rao, several speciality departments have been strengthened by procuring medical equipment worth Rs 40 lakh. The equipment has been acquired for ophthalmology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, ENT, dermatology, and dentistry.

The hospital has also established a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at a cost of nearly Rs 50 lakh. Over the past year, the unit has provided treatment to approximately 990 newborns, enhancing neonatal care services in the district. In addition, a new ambulance worth Rs 20 lakh has been added to improve emergency medical transport, reports The Hans India.
Presenting the hospital's clinical performance over the last two years, Mr Rao said the facility carried out 2,081 orthopaedic surgeries, 6,478 general surgeries, 216 dental surgeries, and 3,096 cataract surgeries. Diagnostic services also witnessed substantial utilisation, with more than 40,900 ultrasound scans, 2,355 two-dimensional echocardiography (2D Echo) tests, and 32,038 electrocardiograms (ECGs) performed during the period.
The hospital further recorded 5,067 deliveries, while over 5.12 lakh patients received free medicines through its pharmacy services, reflecting the scale of care delivered to the community.
The MLA said Chief Minister Mr A. Revanth Reddy has sanctioned Rs 51 crore for upgrading the hospital into a 100-bed facility, with the expanded infrastructure expected to become operational early next year.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Health Minister Mr Damodar Rajanarasimha, IT and Industries Minister Mr Duddilla Sridhar Babu, District Collector Sri Harsha, the hospital superintendent, doctors, and staff in improving healthcare services at the institution.
