Thanjavur Hospital nurse dismissed for making patients stand during saline administration

suspended
Tiruchy: In a case highlighting alleged medical negligence, a contractual nurse at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital has been dismissed after a video surfaced showing her administering saline while making patients stand.
According to reports, the nurse, employed under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, allegedly called patients to her seat instead of attending to them at their bedside. During intravenous fluid administration, patients were reportedly forced to remain standing. In some cases, relatives were instructed to carry dextrose fluid bags while moving around. Those who raised concerns were allegedly scolded and asked to leave.
The incident took place in the oncology department within the hospital's multispecialty block. The nurse had previously faced complaints of indifference toward patients. Reports suggested that she often summoned patients rather than visiting them at their bedside.
