Viral Video: AIIMS Rishikesh doctor allegedly hits nurse after verbal spat, suspended
Rishikesh: A video from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh went viral on social media showing a senior doctor allegedly slapping a female nursing staff during a heated argument at the institute's trauma centre.
The video depicted a conflict between the doctor and the nurse, with both individuals engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Subsequently, the doctor was observed trying to hit the nurse, however, he was unsuccessful due to being restrained by other staff members. The nurse, taken aback by the doctor's behaviour, referred to him as 'Badtameez' (insolent).
The doctor's behaviour has sparked outrage among internet users, urging others to avoid mistreating nurses. They strongly criticized the doctor for his actions and demanded that appropriate measures be taken against him.

In response to the doctor's action in the viral video, the authorities suspended the doctor and a case has been registered against him under sections 334 (Voluntarily causing hurt on provocation), 323, 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) at the Rishikesh police station.
The incident took place on June 15, Sunday evening in AIIMS Rishikesh’s trauma centre which was being prepared to treat victims of the Rudraprayag accident who were airlifted to the institute when the conflict arose. A disagreement arose between the resident doctor and the female nurse over unknown reasons.
Soon, the argument escalated into a heated exchange between the two. Other nursing staff present managed to calm the situation. Meanwhile, someone recorded the incident and shared it on social media.
Coming in support of the nurse, a warning was given by the Nursing Professional Development Association (NPDA) that a strike would begin from Sunday to Tuesday if no action was taken against the doctor. They alleged to held a silent protest outside the medical superintendent’s office, after which they threatened to go on strike, excluding emergency services, The Sports Grail reports.
In addition, a memorandum was submitted to the acting director of the institute by NPDA President Sanjeev Kumar Jangid and General Secretary Dinesh Luhar in this matter.
