Viral video: Birthday celebration at OPD of Lucknow Hospital, probe ordered
Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who holds the health portfolio, on Monday ordered a probe into a viral video showing birthday celebrations inside the Civil hospital OPD here.
The video clip that went viral on
social media this morning shows a group of men creating a ruckus and indulging in a mock belt-fight. Sources said that the birthday was celebrated at midnight on Sunday and the ruckus continued for almost an hour, disturbing the patients. Some people can be seen with cake smeared on their faces.
Civil hospital director Dr Anand Ojha said that the video has been brought to his notice and the matter is being investigated.
"We are trying to identify the people seen in the video and strict action will be taken against them," he said.
Meanwhile, the deputy chief minister said that action will be taken as soon as the report is received by him.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that during a surprise inspection at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak points out the limitations in wheelchair and stretcher facilities and says "Have you seen these wheelchairs? With minor repairs, this one can be used."
This was his first inspection of a hospital after he had been appointed on March 25. While he was inspecting the hospital, he scolded the management about the wheelchair being in a poor condition and asked the hospital about its hygiene. He gave the hospital management one week to improve the facilities.
Then he went to the patients to ask them about the hospital services they get, and the availability of doctors at the OPD.
