Woman left unattended for 11 hours at Koppal District Hospital, family alleges negligence

Koppal: Allegations of medical negligence have surfaced at Koppal District Hospital after a woman was reportedly left unattended on a stretcher in the hospital corridor for nearly 11 hours without treatment, raising serious concerns about patient care in government hospitals.

According to the news reports, the woman, a resident of Chikkabommanal village, had recently returned home after receiving treatment for a spinal injury at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi. On Wednesday night, around 11 PM, her blood pressure suddenly dropped, prompting her worried relatives to rush her to the district hospital for emergency care.

It was only the next morning, around 10 AM Thursday, that Huligemma was finally admitted to the emergency ward—nearly 11 hours after arriving at the hospital. Family members expressed outrage over the staff’s inaction, accusing doctors and hospital personnel of failing in their duty and showing complete disregard for a patient in critical condition.

Most people who come to the district hospital are poor. "If they don't get treatment at the right time, what's the point of having a hospital? Leaving a woman, who was already in pain from a spinal injury and low BP, outside all night is just inhuman," the public is saying. People are complaining that government hospitals are acting like private hospitals with their high-handedness. Now, everyone is waiting to see what action the District Health Officer will take in this matter, reports Asia Net News.
