India coronavirus tally mounts to 13,387 with 437 fatalities, Madhya Pradesh sets day record
The Health Ministry said in its daily update that 437 deaths have been reported in India so far, with the highest -- 194 -- getting reported from Maharashtra, followed by Madhya Pradesh, where 53 deaths have been reported so far.
New Delhi, April 17 (IANS) The total number of coronavirus cases in India reached 13387 on Friday morning, including 76 foreign nationals, with 11,201 active cases, the Union Health Ministry said.
The Health Ministry said in its daily update that 437 deaths have been reported in India so far, with the highest -- 194 -- getting reported from Maharashtra, followed by Madhya Pradesh, where 53 deaths have been reported so far.
"A total of 1,748 patients have been cured and discharged," the Health Ministry said.
Maharashtra remained the worst hit state with total number of positive cases rising to 3,205, followed by Delhi at 1,640 cases, Tamil Nadu at 1,267 cases and Rajasthan at 1,131 cases, according to the Health Ministry data.
Meanwhile Madhya pradesh recorded the maximum number of cases in a day with 226 persons testing positive on Thursday.
The virus has now expanded its footprint to 26 out of 52 districts of the state.
Indore has reported the highest 707 positive cases in the state with 163 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours, health officials said.
In Bhopal, 29 more cases were reported, which took the tally of COVID-19 patients in the state capital to 196.
So far 65 patients have recovered and returned home, the officials said.
The health officials also said that 405 containment areas have been declared across the affected cities in the state.
