Maha Govt activates 25 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals amid rising number of cases
The number of COVID-infected people has been increasing in the state for the past few days. Mahajan appealed to all to wear masks as a precautionary measure. Mahajan also gave instructions that everyone should wear masks to work in government medical colleges and hospitals in the state.
Mumbai: In view of a rise in the number of COVID cases in the country including Maharashtra, the state Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan said on Wednesday that 25 dedicated COVID Hospitals of the Medical Education Department have been made operational in the state and these hospitals have been mainly implemented to treat critical patients.
The Minister of Medical Education interacted with the authorities of all government medical colleges and hospitals in the state. He reviews meetings along with the Deans of all the Government Medical Colleges and the officers of the Medical Education Department regarding the increasing incidence of COVID.

Secretary of Medical Education Department Dr Ashwini Joshi, Commissioner of Medical Education Rajiv Nivatkar, Director of Medical Education Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, Joint Director Dr Ajay Chandanwale along with the Principal and concerned department officials were present.

He said as of today there are more than five thousand COVID beds under the medical education department is ready. More than 2000 ventilators and 62 LMO Tanks, 37 PSA plants are working for the oxygen needed by patients. In the same way, 2 thousand jumbo and 6 thousand small cylinders are prepared.
Today every medical college has COVID testing facilities and in a day medical colleges can conduct more than 30 thousand COVID tests, he added.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that with the number of COVID-19 cases increasing every day, the State Health Department of Uttar Pradesh has fixed the rates of COVID-19 tests at private pathology and diagnostic centres. Issuing directions in this regard, the Health Department asked all the private labs for conducting COVID tests including RT-PCR, Antigen, and CT scan tests at the prescribed rates.
