Minor patient dies within seconds after injection! Telangana Medical Council slaps notice on Nursing Home, Doctors

Telangana Medical Council Seeks Explanation from Nursing Home
New Delhi: The Telangana Medical Council has taken suo moto cognisance of case wherein a minor patient died within seconds after being given an injection at a Thorrur-based nursing home.
Taking note of the incident, after it was reported in a local daily, the Council has directed the Medical Superintendent/Medical Director of the Nursing Home, and two doctors associated with the Nursing Home to submit a detailed explanation along with investigations advised to the patient.
It was alleged that the patient was suffering from fever and cold for 2-3 days; taken by his mother to Balaji Nursing Home, where the doctor after examining the patient suggested certain investigations and gave an injection to the patient. Consequently, the patient allegedly died within seconds.
After the incident came to light, both Dr. P. Vikas, a general physician, and Dr. Balne Poornima, a consultant at the nursing home, have been instructed to appear before Telangana Medical Council within a week and submit their clarification in this regard.
Further, the Medical Director/ Superintendent of the Nursing Home has been directed to submit all the relevant documents, including the hospital's approval certificates and the registration certificates of the doctors involved in the matter within 7 days.
The Council came to know about the incident after it was reported in a local Daily on 06.02.2025. "With reference to the print media in leading News Paper Vaartha on 06.02.2025, the Council has come to know that Dasaroju Siddharth studying in 9th Class, suffering from cold and fever for the past 2 to 3 days and his mother Snit Dasaroju Nagamani has brought his son to Balaji Nursing Home for checkup. Doctor after examining the patient suggested for certain investigations and gave an injection to the patient. As per the article the family members and the mother of the patient alleged that immediately after the doctor has given the injection, the patient was died within few seconds," the Registrar mentioned in the letter directed to the Medical Superintendent.
"Hence in view of the above you are hereby directed to furnish your detailed explanation along with the investigations advised to the patient as alleged by the family members and the mother of the patient the reasons why the patient has died after giving injection within few seconds, in an affidavit form along with all the necessary documents and also the hospital registration certificate issued by the concerned DM&HO, Medical Registration certificates issued by the Telangana Medical Council and should reach within one week (7 Days) from the date of receipt of this notice without fail addressing to the Registrar, Telangana Medical Council, Sultan Bazar, Hyderabad - 500095. And also appear in person before the Chairman/Registrar, Telangana Medical Council, Hyderabad. If you fail to submit your explanation and appear in person before the Chairman/Registrar, TGMC within the stipulated time the Council will place before the Case before the Ethics Committee to take necessary action as per Law," it added.
Commenting on the matter, the Chairman of the TGMC Public Relations Committee, Dr. Naresh Kumar informed Deccan Chronicle that the patient hailed from Kantaipalem in Mahbubabad and he developed a fever on February 5. His parents took him to the nursing home, where he was administered a steroid injection, following which he went into dehydration and passed away in two days.
The daily has reported that the two doctors were registered medical practitioners and employed at the said nursing home, which was being run by unqualified people, as per information received TGMC.
Meanwhile, issuing a Press Release in this regard, the council expressed its concerns over the fact that some medical store owners and fake doctors have set up hospitals in some places and hired qualified registered doctors on salary and joined hands with them to conduct gender determination tests, promote abortions, and employ unnecessary diagnostic tests, unnecessary operations as directed by the management and provide dinners, excursions and commissions to fake doctors.
TGMC Vice Chairman Dr. G. Srinivas said that strict action will be taken against registered doctors of the Medical Council who encourage such actions. Meanwhile, TGMC Public Relations Committee Chairman Dr. Naresh Kumar said that cases are being registered under the NMC Act against fake doctors who practice medicine without registration with the Telangana Medical Council. It also asked the victims of fake doctors to inform the prescription and address they write for complaints via email at antiquackerytsmc@onlinetsmc.in or WhatsApp number 9154382727. The details of the complainants will be kept confidential, assured Dr. Naresh Kumar.
