NBE announces financial assistance, sponsorship policy for CME, Conferences, Seminars, Training Programs, Check out guidelines
New Delhi- The National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has notified regarding providing sponsorship / financial assistance to CME, Conferences, Seminars. Training Programme in the field of medical education. It has released the application form and utilization certificate for interested participants
The NBE conducts the CME, Conferences, Seminars and Training Programmes for NBEMS Trainees and Faculty. The CMEs, conferences, seminars and training programmes are crucial for medical PG trainees/faculty to stay updated with the latest advancements and evidence-based practices in medicine. They provide opportunities for skill enhancement, knowledge exchange and professional networking, ultimately leading to improved patient care.
NBEMS has always promoted CME, Conferences, Seminars and Training programmes for the benefit of NBEMS trainees and faculty. On this, NBEMS has now announced the Financial Assistance/Sponsorship Policy for conducting CME, Conferences, Seminars and Training programmes. Therefore, NBE has issued guidelines for providing sponsorship and financial assistance to CME, Conference, Seminar and Training programs.
As per the guidelines, organisers seeking sponsorship grants from NBEMS must apply to NBEMS on the prescribed application form at least 60 days before organising the event. The envelope should be superscribed as “Grant of Financial Assistance for CME/ Workshop, Seminar, Conference and Training Programme”. The letter, brochure and scanned copy of the application form should also be sent by email. The application should also be accompanied by a detailed brochure of the proposed CME.
The organizers should acknowledge NBEMS in their brochure, website and in the event proceedings of the CME and display the NBEMS logo accordingly. However, this will not be an endorsement by NBEMS regarding the content of the event.
The NBEMS will provide financial assistance of a minimum of Rs 1 lakh for one day, Rs 2 lakh for two days and Rs 3 lakh for three or more days. In addition, NBEMS shall also provide Cumulative Financial Assistance of a maximum of Rs 25 lakh per Financial year for CMEs, Conferences, Seminars and Training programmes.
NBEMS will approve financial assistance for organizing CME before organizing the event. However, the financial assistance will be paid into the official bank account of the CME after organizing the CME and after submitting the Utilization Certificate. Payment will not be made into any personal bank account. Organizers have to submit a cancelled cheque to NBEMS along with the application form.
The financial assistance provided by NBEMS must be utilized for academic activity by the Organization like expenditure on CME publicity material website, venue charges, audio visuals, souvenirs, printing etc. A utilization certificate of the financial assistance provided by NBEMS has to be submitted to NBEMS by the Organizing Committee within 1 month of the conduct of the CME. The utilization certificate should be signed by both the Organizing Secretary and Auditor. The financial assistance should not be utilized for entertainment, food & beverages, lodging, flight tickets and transport.
Meanwhile, CME will not be considered for providing financial assistance in the following indicative circumstances-
i. The CME is organized by a pharmaceutical/ equipment manufacturing/ commercial companies for the promotion of drugs/ equipment.
ii. The CME is conducted at a five-star or above hotel.
iii. The CME is organized by nursing homes/hospitals/persons, which directly or indirectly tend to use CME for marketing and promotional purposes.
iv. The organisers who fail to fulfil the requisite conditions specified by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences as mentioned above.
Moreover, the CME, Workshop, Seminar, Conference and Training programme should fulfil the following criteria to avail sponsorship/financial assistance from NBEMS being conducted-
A The programme shall be intended for the academic benefit of NBEMS/ PG trainees and faculty.
B Innovative Practices Workshops in upcoming sub-speciality should be encouraged.
C The fee for NBEMS trainees should be subsidised.
D It should be a national-level event.
E The organizing body should be a recognised organization/body at the national level.
F The participants attending the event should be from pan India.
G The event should be conducted for at least one full day. (2 sessions).
H At least one hour/day should be devoted to the topic of Ethics, communications and patient safety.
The organizing committee will provide CME proceedings and will allow NBEMS to upload them on its website at its own discretion. Preference will be given to the organisations applying for the first time, subject to fulfilment of the criteria. Grant to the same organisation in successive, consecutive years will be avoided.
