NBE launches eDoctorLog application for DNB, DrNB, FNB trainees, their Guides, View user manual here
New Delhi: Through a recent notification, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has announced that the launch of the eDoctorLog application for benefit of DNB/ DrNB /FNB Trainees and their guides. With this, the guides can manage the trainees' logbooks on the go.
The eDoctorLogbook application has been specially developed to help the DNB/ DrNB /FNB Trainees to maintain their case logbook digitally in an easy and efficient manner.
The application has been used to keep a real-time record of all the clinical cases/procedures observed/assisted/performed by the trainees including their thesis cases. It will help the Guides/Faculty to keep a real-time record of the progress of their trainees, stated the NBE notice.
Guides have to review and approve the case logbooks of their trainees. The eDoctorLog application by NBE allows the guides to manage these approvals anytime from anywhere.
The eDoctorLog application can be accessed from computer/tablet as well as mobile phone. Trainees /guides/faculty can access the eDoctorLogbook by going to www.natboard.edu.in/edoctorlog.

User manual for guides:
To log into e-logbook account, go to http://edoctorlog.natboard.edu.in/DoctorLog/Home/index
Log in with user ID which will be registered mobile number and first-time password already sent via email. When logged in for the first time, the system will prompt the guide for a password change for security reasons
After entering the password, a landing page will appear where guides will be able to see all the information about all the trainees under them and the status of their logbook including pending cases approved procedures and all the thesis cases that they've got approved till date to view and approve all the pending cases submitted to the guides
Then on another screen, they will be able to see the details including the number of counts a particular case has been submitted. There, they will need to click on the patient's name and they will be able to see all the details related to that case.
Then they can enter any remarks in the box before they approve the case.
In case they want to see another trainee's pending procedures, they will have to go to the list, open the case and in case they want to return this case to the trainee to make some changes, now in the remarks they can enter whatever changes they want the trainee to make and then you can click on the return button and confirm the action. With this, the assignment had gone and the trainee will receive an SMS that the guide has reviewed that particular case.
The guide will also receive an email whenever a case is submitted for approval.
On the portal, the guides will be able to easily view all the approved cases.
In case, they want to export any of this data to excel, it's a single click procedure for which they can simply go to the bottom of the page, click on export to excel and all this information will be exported to excel; where using tools like filter and sort they can easily see for example, the cases that they have approved in a particular year or a date range.
They can also then simply save the details and take a printout of the same
To see the progress of the thesis case, the guides will need to click on the thesis cases link on each of the trainees' tab
To visit their landing page, click on the drag menu on the top left on the top-right menu, the guides will be able to change their profile details.
Individual emails to the trainees and their guides were sent earlier and will be sent again in due course.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences was established in 1975 with the prime objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by elevating the level and establishing standards of post graduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis. There are more than 149 recognized Medical Colleges in the country. In addition to Postgraduate teaching institutions under MCI, there are 450 accredited institutions imparting training in various Broad and Super specialities for the award of postgraduate qualification in Broad and super specialities. The Board at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in 54 disciplines approved by the Board for the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for post graduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions. The setting up of a National Body to conduct post graduate medical examination was intended to provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the objective for which post graduate courses were started in medical institutions. Moreover, intra country and international comparison is facilitated with the availability of commonly accepted evaluation mechanism.
