Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre Raises Rs 28 Crore in Series A Funding Led by Alkemi Growth Capital

Pune: Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre has raised Rs 28 crore in a Series A funding round led by Delhi-based venture capital fund Alkemi Growth Capital. The investment marks the organisation’s first institutional funding round and will support its expansion to more than 40 centres and 4,000 beds over the next three to four years.
Founded in Pune in 2008 by psychiatrist Dr Amar Shinde and Vijaya Shinde, Jagruti provides residential mental healthcare, addiction treatment and dementia care. The organisation initially operated a 10-bed centre and has since expanded to more than 19 centres across nine cities, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
Hemant Shinde joined the organisation as co-founder and CEO in 2019, helping it develop into a professionally managed network. Jagruti currently operates more than 1,600 beds, has over 40 doctors and has supported more than 82,000 individuals through its care programmes.
The latest investment will support expansion into new markets, recruitment and development of clinical teams, specialised care programmes, and stronger partnerships with insurers and corporate organisations.
Commenting on the funding, Dr Amar Shinde, Founder and Director of Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre, said, “This first institutional investment is an important milestone in Jagruti's journey. When we started in 2008, our focus was on creating a space where individuals and families could access structured, compassionate and clinically guided care. Over the years, that vision has grown into a wider network serving people across the country. This funding gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and make quality rehabilitation and mental healthcare accessible to many more individuals and families across India.”
Alka Goel, Founder and Managing Partner of Alkemi Growth Capital, said the investment reflected Jagruti’s established operating model and its ability to expand across cities before raising external capital.
“Mental health is one of the largest and least institutionalised gaps in Indian healthcare. Jagruti has built a trusted brand in mental health, rehabilitation and elder care by delivering psychiatrist-led care to a consistent clinical standard, at prices middle-income families can afford,” Goel said.
She added that Jagruti’s existing network and professional management team provided a strong foundation for further growth, expressing confidence in its potential to become a leading specialised healthcare provider in mental health, rehabilitation and elder care.
The investment marks Alkemi Growth Capital’s first foray into the mental health and rehabilitation segment of healthcare delivery. Its portfolio includes companies in diagnostics, medical devices, emergency medical response, cancer diagnostics, health technology and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Jagruti plans to expand across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities over the next three to four years, increasing its capacity to provide structured mental health, addiction and elder care services.
