Bundi Drug Inspector Booked by ACB Over Alleged Rs 1 Lakh Bribe Demand

Bribe
Kota: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Bundi Drug Inspector Rohitash Nagar over an alleged demand for money from a medical shop operator. The complaint alleges that Nagar initially sought Rs 1 lakh to allow the medical shop to function without obstruction and avoid regulatory action, later agreeing to accept Rs 50,000. He allegedly did not take the money after suspecting that the ACB had arranged a trap.
The complaint was submitted to the ACB on April 23 by a person running a private hospital on Chittor Road. A medical shop attached to the hospital is registered in the name of the complainant's nephew's son.
According to the allegations, Nagar initially demanded ₹1 lakh from the nephew's son in connection with the medical shop. The Drug Inspector allegedly said that an inspection had been ordered from Jaipur and that payment would be necessary to ensure that the inspection resulted in a favourable report. Following discussions over the amount, he allegedly agreed to accept ₹50,000.
The ACB subsequently conducted verification of the complaint before initiating its trap proceedings. During verification, the complainant reportedly met Nagar and told him that ₹50,000 was too high, asking him to reduce the demand. The Drug Inspector allegedly responded that the amount was required, which the ACB treated as confirmation of the alleged demand.
After the verification, the ACB arranged a trap to catch the Drug Inspector while accepting the alleged bribe. However, Nagar reportedly became suspicious of the operation and did not accept the money. Consequently, the alleged bribe was not physically received by him.
Despite the unsuccessful trap, the ACB said it had audio and digital evidence supporting the alleged demand. The Bundi ACB subsequently prepared a detailed investigation report and forwarded it to its Jaipur headquarters for further action.
Following examination of the complaint and evidence, the ACB registered a case against Rohitash Nagar. The further investigation has been assigned to Gopal Singh Kanawat, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kota Rural.
The case centres on allegations that the Drug Inspector sought money in connection with the inspection of a medical shop, allegedly linking the payment to a favourable inspection outcome and avoidance of regulatory action. The ACB is now examining the available evidence and circumstances surrounding the alleged demand and attempted trap.
Bhaskar English reports that the ACB action followed a complaint alleging that the Drug Inspector demanded ₹1 lakh and subsequently agreed to ₹50,000 in connection with the medical shop inspection.
The investigation is continuing, with the ACB examining the audio and digital evidence and other material related to the alleged bribe demand.
