Delhi Pharma Firm Owner Arrested in Major Drug Trafficking Case

Arrested
Jammu: In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has apprehended the owner of a Delhi-based pharmaceutical company for his alleged involvement in a wide-ranging drug trafficking operation in the Union Territory.
According to a recent media report in News Point, the accused has been identified as Jatish Babbar, son of Harish Babbar, and a resident of South Delhi, who owns a pharmaceutical company. Police stated that Babbar was taken into custody on charges related to multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act following sustained investigation by the ANTF.
According to officials, Babbar’s name already featured in three separate NDPS cases registered at the ANTF police station in Jammu — FIR No. 45/2020, FIR No. 04/2021 and FIR No. 06/2021 — all registered under various sections of the NDPS Act. He is accused of using his position as the owner of a pharma firm to illegally procure and supply psychotropic substances, acting in concert with an inter-state drug trafficking syndicate.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Babbar had allegedly abused his business credentials to facilitate the acquisition and distribution of banned narcotic and psychotropic drugs across state lines. His role is believed to be central to a larger network, and police are now working to trace both forward and backward linkages in the trafficking chain.
Babbar was tracked down through technical surveillance methods, after which a team of ANTF officials from Jammu, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) ANTF Anwar-ul-Haq, located and arrested him from Delhi. Authorities described the operation as a major success in the ongoing campaign to dismantle drug mafias operating under the cover of legitimate pharmaceutical businesses.
The ANTF reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and appealed to the public to support law enforcement by sharing any information related to narcotics distribution or abuse, reports NewsPoint.
