Delhi Pharmacist Arrested for Supplying Prescription Drugs Illegally, Wider Racket Suspected

New Delhi: A pharmacist has been arrested by Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in an illegal drug racket involving the supply of prescription medicines without valid authorization, with investigators uncovering a wider network engaged in the illicit trade of controlled substances.
According to police officials, the accused was found distributing prescription drugs without proper prescriptions, violating drug control regulations and contributing to an organized supply chain of restricted medicines.
During the operation, authorities recovered a significant quantity of controlled pharmaceutical substances along with forged medical documents used to facilitate the illegal trade.
The investigation revealed that the racket was not limited to a single individual but was part of a broader network involved in trafficking pharmaceutical drugs.
Officials suspect that multiple individuals may be linked to the operation, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other members connected to the syndicate.
Police sources indicated that the accused played a key role in sourcing and distributing medicines that are otherwise regulated, raising serious concerns about the misuse of prescription drugs and gaps in monitoring mechanisms. The use of forged documents further points to deliberate attempts to bypass regulatory safeguards.
Authorities are examining supply chains, financial transactions, and communication records to map the full extent of the network.
According to a recent media report in The Times of India, further investigation is underway, with officials aiming to dismantle the entire network and prevent the circulation of unregulated medicines in the market.
