Delhi toxic air triggers exit of Akums Drugs and Pharma Finance head

New Delhi: Citing Delhi's pollution levels, Rajkumar Bafna, President-Finance of Akums Drugs and Pharma, has tendered his resignation from the company.
In a regulatory filing, the company said Bafna, who was designated as a Senior Management Personnel, has resigned with effect from December 31, 2025, due to personal reasons.
However, in his resignation letter, Bafna made a candid reference to the capital’s toxic air. “I would like to inform you that due to Delhi pollution level, I am resigning from my position as President–Finance,” he wrote.
Responding to the resignation, Chief Financial Officer Sumeet Sood expressed regret over the decision but acknowledged the health concerns involved.
“Though we regret your decision, given your health issues we will not be able to persuade you. As desired, we will formally relieve you on December 31, 2025,” Sood said.
The development comes amid growing concern over Delhi’s air pollution and its impact on public health, with this resignation highlighting how environmental conditions are increasingly influencing corporate decisions as well.
