Drug Inspector Suspended Over Irregularities in Inspections

Drug Inspector Suspended
The suspension was announced "with immediate effect" after an internal probe found "serious irregularities" in narcotics inspections.
Gorakhpur: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Gorakhpur's drug inspector Rahul Kumar with immediate effect, after the Food Safety & Drug Administration (FSDA) unveiled serious lapses within his department.
Official sources to Dainik Bhaskar that the suspension was announced “with immediate effect” following an internal investigation that revealed “several serious irregularities” during the inspection of narcotic and controlled substances.
Local reports from Live Hindustan highlight that the inspector faces allegations of “negligence in taking action against narcotic trade,” which has persisted in Gorakhpur’s wholesale drug market over the past year–and even spread to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Punjab.

A formal complaint had even reached the Chief Minister’s office, prompting the swift suspension .
Dainik Bhaskar reports that further administrative action reportedly included the suspension of his subordinate, drug enforcement officer Mohan Tiwari, amid accusations of collusion with local suppliers of narcotic substances.
The matter has been escalated to Assistant Drug Commissioner Puran Chand, who is now conducting a detailed inquiry into the alleged inaction and improper licensing practices, reports Live Hindustan.
