Emcure Pharma Slapped With Rs 57.73 Cr Income-Tax Penalty for 7 Financial Years

New Delhi: Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited has received various orders from the Income-tax Department imposing an aggregate penalty of Rs 57,73,96,732 for financial years 2014-15 to 2020-21, covering Assessment Years 2015-16 to 2021-22. The company said it is evaluating appropriate legal remedies, including filing an appeal before the Appellate Authority.
The company disclosed the development on October 2, 2026, under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The disclosure relates to ongoing litigations previously reported by Emcure Pharmaceuticals in its Integrated Governance Reports, with the latest disclosure having been made for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
According to the company’s disclosure, the opposing party in the litigation is the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Central Circle 2(1), Pune, representing the Income-tax Department. The litigation or dispute was initiated on December 27, 2023.
The latest orders received by Emcure relate to financial years 2014-15 through 2020-21, corresponding to Assessment Years 2015-16 through 2021-22. The orders impose an aggregate penalty of Rs 57,73,96,732 on the company.
The company has stated that it is currently in the process of evaluating the appropriate legal remedies available to it in relation to the orders. These remedies include the possibility of filing an appeal before the Appellate Authority.
