Thane: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has ordered a "100 per cent inspection" of packaged drinking water facilities across Maharashtra, stressing the need to safeguard public health through rigorous food safety enforcement.
The FSSAI issued the directive during a review meeting on Friday, the statutory body said in a release. Its CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao underscored the need for bi-annual compliance checks at such units.
Rao also called for the promotion of good hygiene practices among street food vendors.
Maharashtra's Food Safety Commissioner Rajesh J Narvekar announced at the meeting that the FSSAI's 'Eat Right Place of Worship' certification was awarded to Swamy Samarth Trust and the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple for efforts to promote food safety and hygiene
