Govt Extends Minimum Import Price for Two APIs ATS-8, Sulfadiazine

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has extended the minimum import price (MIP) conditions for ATS-8 and Sulfadiazine API until November 30, 2026.
The extensions were issued through Notification Nos. 39/2026-27 and 40/2026-27, both dated September 30, 2026. They cover the specified imports under Chapter 29 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule-I (Import Policy).
Through Notification No. 39/2026-27, the government has extended the MIP of USD 111 per kg, calculated on the Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value, for imports of ATS-8. The condition was originally imposed through Notification No. 30/2025-26 dated September 18, 2025.
The notice stated,
"In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby extends the Minimum Import (MIP) condition imposed vide Notification No. 30/2025-26 dated 18.09.2025 on specific items covered under Chapter 29 of ITC HS, 2022, Schedule -I (Import Policy), for a period up to 30.11.2026 with all other terms and conditions of the above said notification remaining the same."
Explaining the effect of the extension, it stated:
"Minimum Import Price (MIP) @ USD $ 111 per Kg on Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) value, imposed on import of ATS-8 {(4R-Cis)-1,1-Dimethylethyl-6- cyanomethyl-2,2-dimethyl-1-3- dioxane-4-acetate} under ITC (HS) Codes 29329990, 29339990, 29333990, 29321990, 29349990, 29420090, 29189990, 29159099, 29163990 and 29225090 has been extended for the period up to 30.11.2026."
Separately, Notification No. 40/2026-27 extends the MIP of Rs 1,774 per kg on the CIF value for imports of Sulfadiazine API. This condition was originally imposed through Notification No. 41/2025-26 dated October 10, 2025.
The notice stated,
"In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby extends the Minimum Import (MIP) condition imposed vide Notification No. 41/2025-26 dated 10.10.2025 on Sulfadiazine API covered under Chapter 29 of ITC HS, 2022, Schedule -I (Import Policy), for a period up to 30.11.2026 with all other terms and conditions of the above said notification remaining the same."
On the applicable import price, it stated:
"Minimum Import Price (MIP) @ Rs.1774 per Kg on Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) value, imposed on import of Sulfadiazine API covered under Chapter 29 of ITC HS 2022, Schedule-I(import Policy) has been extended for the period up to 30.11.2026."
Both notifications were issued with the approval of the Minister of Commerce and Industry and signed by Lav Agarwal, Director General of Foreign Trade and Ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
