Hyderabad Pharma Plant Explosion Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Injured
Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, a chemical reactor explosion at Aurore Pharmaceuticals Private Ltd in Hyderabad claimed life of a worker, while three others were critically injured following the fatal mishap.
The accident took place on Wednesday at the Jeedimetla industrial area in Medchal Malkajgiri district, located on the city’s outskirts. The workers were engaged in cleaning the reactor when the blast occurred, resulting in tragic consequences.
The deceased was identified as 43-year-old Anil, who died on the spot. The injured, Gopi (23), Srinivas (25), and Balram (30), were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Their injuries were reported to be severe, and medical teams are working to stabilize their condition.
Following the incident, tensions escalated at the pharmaceutical unit as relatives of the victims staged a protest, accusing the management of negligence. The protesters alleged that the company failed to implement adequate safety protocols and failed to inform families promptly about the accident. They demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and appropriate compensation for the affected families.

Senior police officials arrived at the scene to pacify the protesters and initiate a probe into the explosion. According to a preliminary report, the explosion occurred while workers were cleaning the reactor’s boiler. Authorities are investigating whether lapses in safety measures contributed to the accident. Police told PTI that a case has been registered, and an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the blast.
According to a recent media report in English Mathrubhumi, this is not the first time Aurore Pharmaceuticals has faced such a tragedy. In March 2023, a similar incident claimed the lives of two workers when a fire broke out in a reactor during the cleaning process. Investigations revealed that static electricity discharge likely ignited flammable solvents, causing the fatal blaze.
