Liquor Bottles Found at Patna Pharma Firm, 3 Arrested, Drug Licence Violations Flagged

Patna: Three people were arrested and sent to jail after a large quantity of liquor bottles was allegedly recovered from Cellulas Pharma Private Limited in Kankarbagh during a raid conducted by the Bihar Drug Control Department on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by the State Drug Controller, with assistance from Kankarbagh police, conducted an inspection at another pharmaceutical establishment located at D-167, PC Colony, on Thursday.
During the inspection, officials found that the establishment had failed to produce medicine purchase and sale records along with other mandatory documents. The prescribed signboard was also reportedly absent, while the storage arrangements at the premises were found to be unsatisfactory.
The inspection further revealed that the firm's drug licence authorised operations in only one room measuring 11.15 square metres. However, medicines were allegedly being stored across four rooms at the premises. The main entrance of the flat was subsequently sealed pending further investigation.
As part of the inspection, officials seized two expired medicines under Form 16. Samples of seven medicines were also collected and sent for testing as part of the regulatory examination.
The firm has been directed to submit the required records within five days. The department will take further action after examining the documents submitted by the establishment and reviewing the laboratory reports of the medicine samples.
Officials told The Times of India that inspections will continue as part of efforts to ensure drug quality and regulatory compliance.
