NPPA Notifies Ceiling Prices for IV Fluids in Advanced Packaging Formats, Details

New Delhi: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has notified the extension of separate ceiling prices for several IV fluid formulations manufactured by Hindustan Polyfab, Pharma Implex Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., and BML Parenteral Drugs, through Gazette notifications issued on August 29, 2025.
The decision comes as an addendum to earlier NPPA orders issued in March and July 2025, which had fixed ceiling prices for intravenous fluids in non-glass containers with special features. The latest move ensures that more manufacturers using advanced packaging such as Euro Head/LDPE and Euro Cap bottles are brought under the ambit of notified ceiling prices.
In the case of Hindustan Polyfab, the Authority has extended the ceiling price coverage for IV fluids in Euro Head and LDPE bottles. Accordingly, prices notified include ₹42.79 for a 100 ml pack of sodium chloride injection (0.9% w/v), ₹89.47 for the 500 ml pack of the same formulation, ₹83.70 for a 500 ml pack of glucose injection (5% w/v), ₹87.01 for the 500 ml pack of the glucose (5%) and sodium chloride (0.9%) combination, and ₹66.09 for a 500 ml pack of ringer lactate injection.
Similarly, Pharma Implex Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. has been granted separate ceiling prices for its Euro Cap and Euro Head IV fluid bottles. The notified rates include ₹42.79 for sodium chloride injection (0.9% w/v) 100 ml, ₹89.47 for its 500 ml pack, ₹100.22 for the 1000 ml pack, ₹83.70 and ₹96.77 for 500 ml and 1000 ml packs of glucose injection (5% w/v), and ₹87.01 and ₹101.68 for 500 ml and 1000 ml packs of the glucose (5%) and sodium chloride (0.9%) combination. Further, the authority has fixed ₹66.09 for a 500 ml pack and ₹116.20 for a 1000 ml pack of ringer lactate injection, ₹0.41 per ml for mannitol injection 20% 100 ml, ₹0.25 per ml for metronidazole injection (0.5% w/v) 500 mg/100 ml, and ₹0.23 per ml for ciprofloxacin injection 200 mg/100 ml.
For BML Parenteral Drugs, ceiling prices have been extended to IV fluids packed in Euro Head bottles. The notified ceiling price for sodium chloride injection (0.9% w/v) is ₹42.79 per pack of 100 ml, ₹63.18 for the 250 ml pack, and ₹89.47 for the 500 ml pack. The price for a 500 ml pack of glucose injection (5% w/v) is fixed at ₹83.70, while the 500 ml pack of the glucose (5%) and sodium chloride (0.9%) combination has been priced at ₹87.01. Ringer lactate injection has been notified at ₹51.88 for the 250 ml pack and ₹66.09 for the 500 ml pack.
The Authority’s decision follows representations from these manufacturers before the Multi-Disciplinary Committee, highlighting the special packaging features that reduce the risk of contamination and improve patient safety. By extending the notified ceiling prices to these additional packs, NPPA has ensured affordability and consistency in the pricing of essential IV fluids across manufacturers.
