NPPA Revises Ceiling Prices for 6 Drugs Including Clarithromycin, Vitamin C

New Delhi: In accordance with the price revision as per the annual wholesale price index (WPI) increase of 12.1218%, through a recent notification, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, the Government of India as revised and fixed the ceiling price of 438 scheduled formulations and the Bare Metal Stents under the Drug (Price Control) Order, 2013.

This list includes 5-aminosalicylic Acid, 6-mercaptopurine, Abacavir (A)+Lamivudine(B), Acetazolamide, Acetylsalicylic acid, ActinomycinD, Acyclovir, Adenosine, AlbendazoleAllopurinol, Bupivacaine, Budesonide, Buprenorphine (A)+Naloxone (B), and others.

Scheduled formulation means any formulation, included in the First Schedule whether referred to by generic versions or brand name (mainly products covered under the National List of Essential Medicines are Scheduled Formulation). In other words, all medicines that are covered in the National List of Essential Medicine, which are notified in Schedule 1, by the Govt. are scheduled formulation.

"Ceiling Price" refers to a price fixed by the Government for Scheduled Formulations in accordance with the provisions of the drugs (price control) order, 2013. The ceiling Price is the Maximum Price to the Retailer (excluding Taxes, if any) for the given product.

The notice declared the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority's notification S.O. 1568(E), 1570(E), 1571(E), 1573(E), 1574(E) and 1576(E) to 1580(E) dated 31.03.2023, relating to fixation of ceiling price, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, the Entry in column having title “Ceiling price (w.e.f. 1.4.2023 with WPI @ 12.1218%)” for the formulation as mentioned in column (2) and dosage form & strength as mentioned in column (3) of the Table, both in Hindi & English version as reproduced in column (5) of the Table 1 below be read as entries in column (6) of the Table 1 below:
