Piramal Pharma Acquires Additional 40.67% Stake in Yapan Bio for Rs 76 Crore, Takes 74% Ownership

Mumbai: Piramal Pharma Ltd. has completed the acquisition of an additional 40.67% stake in Yapan Bio Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in vaccines and biologics, for an aggregate cash consideration of Rs 76 crore (USD 7.95 million).
Following the transaction, finalized on August 18, 2026, Piramal Pharma now holds a 74% equity stake in Yapan Bio, making the Hyderabad-based company a subsidiary of Piramal Pharma.
The acquisition marks a significant step in Piramal Pharma's strategy to expand its presence in the biologics sector. Yapan Bio's advanced large-molecule capabilities will be integrated into Piramal Pharma Solutions' (PPS) service offering, enabling the company to provide broader development and manufacturing services for complex biologic therapies.
Yapan Bio will continue to operate under the structure of Piramal Pharma Solutions (PPS), the CDMO arm of Piramal Pharma.
The company said the transaction will strengthen its ability to develop and scale complex biologic therapies and enhance the efficiency of its integrated service offerings.
Yapan Bio also directly supports ADCelerate™, PPS's fixed-price, integrated platform designed to streamline Phase I antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development from research and development to good manufacturing practice (GMP) manufacturing in as little as 12 months.
The acquisition is expected to further strengthen ADCelerate™ and Piramal Pharma's capabilities in developing and manufacturing ADCs.
“This strategic investment doesn’t just fuel our long-term growth; it also puts Patient Centricity into action,” said Peter DeYoung, CEO, Piramal Global Pharma.
“By integrating Yapan Bio’s specialized expertise into our global network, we’re empowering our partners to meet a rising global demand for complex biologics and helping patients worldwide secure continued access to the therapies they need,” he added.
Yapan Bio provides development and manufacturing services for biologics, including vaccines and gene therapies, through its integration with Piramal Pharma Solutions.
PPS is a CDMO providing end-to-end development and manufacturing solutions across the drug life cycle. Its services span drug discovery, process and pharmaceutical development, clinical trial supplies, commercial supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms.
The CDMO also offers specialized capabilities in highly potent APIs, antibody-drug conjugates, sterile fill/finish, peptide products and services, and potent solid oral drug products.
Piramal Pharma operates through 17 global development and manufacturing facilities and has a distribution network spanning more than 100 countries. Its businesses include Piramal Pharma Solutions, Piramal Critical Care and Piramal Consumer Healthcare.
The company said the acquisition will expand its biologics capabilities and support its broader strategy of delivering integrated development and manufacturing solutions to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies globally.
