Raid at Quack Clinic in Karimnagar, illegally stocked drugs seized

Telangana: In a recent raid at a quack's clinic in Vidya Nagar, Karimnagar, the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana has seized drugs illegally stocked for sale.
On credible information, Drugs Control Administration officials, on 27th December, 2025 raided the premises of a quack/unqualified practitioner K. Laxminarayana, situated at Laxmi First Aid Centre, H. No-10-2-11, Vidya Nagar, Karimnagar, who was conducting clinical practice without proper qualifications at his clinic.
During the raid, DCA officials detected 39 varieties of medicines, including 35 varieties of Physician’s Samples of various antibiotics, analgesics, anti-ulcer drugs, etc. stocked at the premises without a drug licence. Worth of the stock seized is Rs. 15,011/-.
DCA officials detected ‘antibiotics’ viz. Cefixime, Ofloxacin, Cloxacillin, Amoxycillin, Azithromycin etc. at the clinic during the raid.
Indiscriminate sale of antibiotics, by unqualified persons may have disastrous consequences on the health of public, including emergence of ‘Antimicrobial Resistance’.
Smt. S. Umarani, Drugs Inspector, Karimnagar and Sri P. Shravan Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Peddapally carried out the raid.
DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation will be carried out, and action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
In an advisory, Telangana DCA informed that Wholesalers/Dealers supplying medicines to quacks, other unqualified persons, and unlicensed shops, who are found stocking and selling drugs without a valid drug license, shall be liable for penal action under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Stringent action shall be initiated against such Wholesalers/Dealers involved unauthorized and illegal supply chains.
All Wholesalers/Dealers are mandatorily directed to ensure that medicines are supplied only to entities holding a valid drug license issued by the competent Licensing Authority. It is the responsibility of every
Wholesaler/Dealer has to verify and maintain records of the validity of drug licenses of recipient establishments before effecting supplies. Noncompliance in this regard will attract strict action as per law, advisory stated.
The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, issues drug licenses for the stocking and selling of medicines in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
