Shaik Barak Tulla joins Sun Pharma as Senior Vice President and Head of Acute Clusters

Sun Pharma has appointed Shaik Barak Tulla as the new Senior Vice President and Head of Acute Clusters. The industry veteran brings with him over 25 years of rich experience in the pharmaceutical sector.

Announcing his new role, Tulla shared in a LinkedIn post, "I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Senior Vice President and Head of Acute Clusters at Sun Pharma".

Tulla’s illustrious career spans more than two decades at Cipla, where he held various leadership roles. He began his journey with Cipla in 1999 as a Sales Manager and steadily rose through the ranks. By 2007, he was leading sales and marketing for Critical Care, and in 2009, he took charge of Divisional Therapy Head (GM) to BU Head and Sr BU head Respiratory and promoted as Vice President and Cluster Lead Nebulization Respiratory in 2018. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial head - Acute Cluster.

18 out of 25 years in senior management, he skillfully managed Cluster P&Ls, multiple business units, and spearheaded mergers, downsizing, and business transformations. He has expertise in launching new divisions, implementing rural business models, and revitalizing legacy businesses. 7+ years exp. as Cluster Head. He has Proven expertise in major pharmaceutical therapies, both Acute/Chronic, notably Anti-infective, Respiratory, and across diverse specialties such as GI, Derma, Pain, VMN. Significant experience in Chronic Business, Respiratory. Extensive background in Critical Care/Institution/Hospital Business.

Shaik excels in driving robust top-line growth, cultivating high-performing teams, and delivering notable profitability (12% up in last 3 yrs). He is expert in Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE) and People Initiatives, resulting in low attrition rates (lowest in IB) and fostering a culture that produces top achievers (40% of Achievers awardee were from his cluster).

He has proven track record of optimizing supply chain dynamics for enhanced efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

He holds good number of certification programs from premier institutes like ISB, INSEAD, IIM Ahmedabad and Singapore management University.
