Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Appoints Anil Raghavan as Managing Director and CEO

Mumbai: Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Limited (SPARC) has announced the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer, Anil Raghavan, as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company with effect from August 11, 2026, subject to the approval of shareholders at the upcoming 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM). The company also informed that Dr Rajamannar Thennati will retire from the Board of Directors upon completion of his term at the AGM scheduled for August 10, 2026.
The development was approved by the Board of Directors and disclosed by the company on July 13, 2026, through a filing with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company stated that Anil Raghavan will assume the role of Managing Director and CEO from August 11, 2026, and will be liable to retire by rotation in accordance with applicable provisions, subject to shareholder approval.
SPARC said that Anil Raghavan currently serves as the company's Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for developing and executing strategies to achieve SPARC's vision of becoming a global pharmaceutical leader with a portfolio of innovative solutions. Operating from the company's Mumbai office, he also mentors AIRAMATRIX Private Limited, an early-stage machine learning company focused on applying high-content image processing and deep learning to drug development and clinical practice.
Before joining SPARC, Raghavan spent nearly a decade consulting with leading firms including Arthur Andersen, KPMG, and Cambridge Technology Partners, before moving to Quintiles. During his consulting career, he worked with leadership teams across industries such as media and entertainment, telecommunications, healthcare services, and technology outsourcing, helping organisations develop business strategies, improve performance and build consulting solutions for the emerging information technology and business process outsourcing sectors. An industrial engineer by training, he has a keen interest in advancing science and technology in pharmaceutical research and development as well as healthcare delivery. He has also participated in several industry studies and collaborated with business associations to highlight opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
The company further clarified that Anil Raghavan is not related to any director of SPARC and is not debarred from holding the office of director by any order of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other authority. Dr. Rajamannar Thennati's retirement from the Board will become effective on August 10, 2026, following the completion of his tenure as a director.
