Trainee Pharmacist Allegedly Sexually Harassed at Parganas Hospital, 1 Held

SCBMCH Faces Scrutiny After ICU Patient Allegedly Molested by Attendant
Kolkata: A trainee pharmacist undergoing practical training at Chandpara Rural Hospital in Gaighata, North 24 Parganas, was allegedly molested by a contractual Group-D employee, leading to his prompt arrest.
According to a recent media report in the Millennium Post, the trainee had joined the hospital on December 3 for her training. As per the complaint she later filed, the incident occurred when she went to use the toilet in the hospital’s dental department. As she stepped out, the staffer, identified as Ratan Malakar, allegedly molested her and made obscene remarks, leaving her shocked and distressed.
The trainee immediately approached Gaighata Police Station and lodged an official complaint. Acting on the FIR, police registered a case and arrested Ratan Malakar the same night from his residence in Habra.
Investigations are underway, and the hospital administration is likely to face scrutiny regarding internal security measures and monitoring of contractual staff, reports the Millennium Post.
