Viral Video: MP Pharmacy Council Staff Assault Visitor Seeking Digital Signature, FIR Filed

Doctor assault
Bhopal: A shocking incident at the Madhya Pradesh Pharmacy Council (MPPC) office has sparked widespread outrage after a viral video showed Council staff brutally assaulting a visitor who had come to get his pharmacy certificate digitally signed. The footage captures multiple MPPC personnel kicking, punching and dragging him into a room, prompting both an FIR and a counter-FIR in the aftermath of the incident.
The victim, identified as Tushar Sunar, had reportedly been visiting the Council office for more than a month to secure a digital signature on his registration certificate. On Friday, he was told that the registrar was away for lunch. When she did not return, Sunar attempted to follow up on the request again, leading to a confrontation.
According to his complaint, a security guard grabbed him by the collar, pushed him backward, and caused him to fall against a metal gate. Within moments, several staff members rushed in, pulled him into a room and assaulted him repeatedly. The video shows Sunar injured and bleeding, naming the Council president and other officials as his attackers, while alleging that they ganged up on him to silence his request.
Following the incident, police registered an FIR against Sanjay Jain, president of the Pharmacy Council, along with other staffers allegedly involved in the assault. However, a counter-FIR was also filed against Sunar, accusing him of obstructing public servants, entering the office forcefully and using abusive language. The episode sparked public anger and student organisations staged demonstrations outside the Council office. Members of the ABVP demanded the immediate resignation of Sanjay Jain, while NSUI workers blackened his nameplate in protest, accusing officials of abusing their authority.
Police told NDTV that both the complaint and the counter-complaint are being examined, and statements of witnesses and staff are being recorded to determine the exact sequence of events and establish responsibility.
