DoP Invites Applications for Director Post at NIPER Hyderabad with Level-17 Pay

New Delhi: Through a recent advertisement, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has invited applications and nominations for the post of Director, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad).
The Director, described as the institute’s principal academic and executive officer, will oversee its administration and academic performance for a five-year term with a fixed monthly salary of ₹2,25,000 at Level 17 (7th CPC), subject to a maximum age of 70 years. The DoP states that the role demands “a high level of competence, integrity, morals, institutional commitment, innovative thinking, the ability to envision a future-ready academic ecosystem, strong communication, and extensive experience in pharmaceutical and medical device research and education.”
NIPER Hyderabad, an institute of national importance under the NIPER Act, 1998, ranks fifth in the NIRF 2025 Pharmacy category and functions as a centre for postgraduate and doctoral education, research, industry collaboration and executive training.
Eligible applicants must be Indian citizens holding a PhD and postgraduate degrees in pharmaceuticals or related sciences, with at least 20 years of teaching and research experience, a strong academic record with high-impact publications, and minimum 10 years of experience as a professor or scientist in Level 14 or above. Demonstrated academic leadership, extensive practical experience in pharmaceutical or medical device institutions and relevant administrative experience are essential, along with personal attributes such as integrity, innovative thinking, partnership-building ability and sound decision-making. Candidates must also be not more than 60 years old as on 14 December 2025. Applications must include the prescribed form, self-attested documents, and separate notes on the applicant’s vision for the institute and suitability, and must be submitted both in hard copy (CR Section, Room 239, A Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi) and by email to divhead-niper@pharma-dept.gov.in, addressed to the Director (A&R Division), Room 414-A, B Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. The last date is 30 days from publication, with government employees required to apply through proper channel, submitting Forwarding Authority certification and attested ACRs/APARs of the last five years, while advance copies may be sent earlier and forwarded ones may arrive within 15 additional days.
The advertisement also outlines the nomination process, allowing submissions from present and past leaders of national research organisations, Central Universities, institutes of national importance and Institutions of Eminence, addressed to the Chairperson, Search-cum-Selection Committee at the same email ID with the subject “Nomination for post of Director, NIPER, Hyderabad.”
Selection will be carried out through a search-cum-selection mechanism, which may also consider names identified independently. Shortlisted candidates will bear their own travel expenses, and the appointment will remain subject to the outcome of W.P.(C) 4430/2025 in the Delhi High Court. The notification also includes the complete application form requiring personal details, education, employment history, research achievements, patents, present status, vigilance/criminal disclosures, referees and declarations, along with the prescribed Forwarding Authority Certificate confirming service records, integrity, vigilance status and submission of attested ACRs/APARs.
