Only 13% of 95,000 Approved Faculty Onboarded: PCI Gives 15-Day Deadline for Biometric Attendance in Pharmacy Colleges

Biometric Attendance System in Pharmacy Colleges
New Delhi: Issuing a strict directive to pharmacy institutions nationwide, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has mandated the immediate implementation of the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) and instructed all colleges to register on the official portal https://central.pci.ac.in/ and complete faculty onboarding within the next 15 days.
This aligned with the goal of ensuring accountability, transparency, and real-time faculty attendance tracking across pharmacy institutions.
The Council has directed all institutions to take the following steps, i.e., purchase of the AEBAS devices, onboarding and registrations on the https://central.pci.ac.in/ and further processing for the faculty registration on the respective URL of the institutions.
In addition to the above, PCI revealed that approximately 2735 institutions have been successfully approved as of 07.08.2025 in place of approximately 6000 institutions. In addition, approximately 12,600 faculty are only onboarded on AEBAS under various institutions, but the count of approved teaching faculty on DIGI-PHARMed is approximately 95,000.
Therefore, in its latest circular, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) repeated,
"It is again informed to all the institutions that they must onboard themselves on the AEBAS Portal i.e. https://central.pci.ac.in/ and ensure their faculty are also registered on their respective URL on an immediate basis within the next 15 days."
Further, it added,
"If any institution fails to initiate and complete this process within the stated timeline, then the council may withhold its decision regarding the institution accordingly, if required. This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority."
The above circular, approved by the Competent Authority, was signed by Anil Mittal, Registrar-Cum-Secretary, PCI and circulated to approved pharmacy institutions, universities, examining boards, and state governments.
