Goa: A nurse sustained multiple stab injuries after she was allegedly attacked by a man inside the premises of a government hospital in Tuem, North Goa, on Tuesday. The accused was caught at the spot by bystanders and later taken into police custody.
Police have registered an attempt to murder case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The injured nurse was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Police said she is undergoing treatment and her condition is stable. Investigators are yet to determine the exact motive behind the attack, though preliminary information suggests the accused was known to the victim's family.
Officials said the victim's statement will be recorded depending on her medical condition, and the investigation is continuing. Police are also examining the nature of the relationship between the accused and the victim as part of the probe.

As per a report by The Indian Express, according to eyewitnesses, the man entered the government health centre and allegedly approached the woman staffer before attacking her with a knife. Some locals overpowered him and handed him over to the police.
The incident has triggered concerns over the safety of healthcare professionals working in government hospitals. Residents and public representatives have called for improved security arrangements at healthcare facilities, particularly for women employees.
According to a report by TOI, such incidents have been reported here in the past. There is an urgent need for stronger security measures and increased police patrolling to prevent such incidents, said GFP functionary Deepak Kalangutkar.
Political leaders have also demanded strict action against the accused and urged authorities to strengthen security measures to ensure the safety of healthcare workers and patients at government hospitals.
