Track Important Ophthalmology Conferences in 2026

India accounts for over 20% of the global blind population and has the highest number of blind children worldwide. Clear vision is a fundamental aspect of life, essential for education, daily activities, and overall well-being. Nevertheless, millions are at risk of losing this vital sense due to diseases that, if left untreated, can lead to irreversible blindness. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 80% of visual impairments are preventable or treatable with timely interventions. Professional ophthalmology conferences continue to advance amid rapid technological and scientific progress, helping to prevent eye disorders to some extent. These conferences remain crucial for ongoing education and clinical improvement. The international and national ophthalmology community is thus preparing for a year of high-impact scientific meetings, collaborating with ophthalmologists, eye surgeons, optometrists, vision care experts, retina specialists, glaucoma experts, corneal and refractive surgeons, paediatric ophthalmologists, neuro-ophthalmologists, ophthalmic researchers, academics, postgraduate students, and developers from the optical industry and technology sectors. In India and globally, the 2026 scientific discussions will highlight the latest breakthroughs in areas such as:
- Eye Diseases & Disorders - glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment
- Innovations in LASIK, intraocular lenses, and refractive surgeries
- Early detection through screening, lifestyle recommendations, and protective measures can prevent vision loss.
- Orbital and Eyelid Disorders include ptosis, orbital cellulitis, and tumors.
- Infectious Eye Diseases such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, and endophthalmitis
- Ocular Trauma includes mechanical injuries, burns, and foreign body penetrations etc
- Geriatric Eye Care
- Low Vision Rehabilitation
- Artificial Vision including bionic eyes and neural implants, Retinal Implants
- Regenerative Ophthalmology explores stem cell therapy, gene editing, and tissue engineering
- Ophthalmic Imaging Devices such as fundus photography, and fluorescein angiography
- Ocular Immunology - autoimmune disorders
The 2026 Ophthalmology Scientific Sessions will bring together eye care professionals, experts, researchers, and decision-makers from academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and medical institutions across India and worldwide to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration, serving as a platform for translating research into real-world clinical practice and improving patient care. Below is an overview of the 2026 conference calendar, highlighting significant ophthalmology events in India and worldwide (Table 1).
