Pathlab Owner promised doctors of creating fake Malaria,Typhoid reports, Arrested
Gujarat: A path lab owner and three of his accomplices have now been arrested after a major scam of fake reports to dupe patients in the area was unearthed. The alleged nexus of doctors and the pathology lab saw the pathology lab tweaking reports of the patients in order to show them positive for diseases that actually never existed.
“If you want blood report showing malaria, typhoid or whichever disease, I can prepare it for you,” heard the conversation between a Vadodra based Lab technician and an unidentified doctor, the audio clip has gone viral shocking the authorities and medical professionals alike.
The technician then went on to offer a 40% commission to the doctor for all investigations by him.
With the audio going viral, health department and police authorities began a snap down to break the nexus, which presumably involving doctors and the pathology lab to tamper with the reports of gullible patients in order for their benefits.
TOI reports about the case, adding police have now arrested the path lab owner as well as the technicians of the laboratory running this nexus. The technician, during interrogation, confessed that the voice in the audio clip is his.
The owner, identified as Jaimin Shah, ran Swara Pathological Laboratory in Vadu also confessed to cooking up pathology reports of patients.
Doctors' name under scrutiny
During interrogation, the owner, Jaiman Shah confessed that while he was the owner, the authorised signatory was one Dr Surve, who was brought for interrogation by the police and the health department. The doctor, however denied any connections with the pathology lab.
“We have found some documents and papers from the laboratory which are signed by Surve but he claims that those are not his signatures,” sub-inspector J A Barot told TOI. The police have now sought documents which are signed by Surve to match the initials.
