Don't Miss Out on These Respiratory Conferences in 2026

A recent report by the World Health Organization (WHO)/Europe and the European Respiratory Society highlights the significant underdiagnosis, inadequate management, and underestimation of chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs), such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other pulmonary conditions. Despite being preventable and treatable, CRDs are among the primary contributors to disability and mortality in the region, particularly as underlying factors in cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Currently, they are the sixth leading cause of death. India is home to an estimated 33 million individuals with asthma and 55 million with COPD, representing over 10% of the global burden of these diseases. This substantial disease burden imposes a significant economic strain. In addition to CRDs, tuberculosis remains a prevalent infectious disease in India, accounting for over a quarter of the global burden.
Effective health promotion for respiratory disease management in India requires a culturally sensitive approach that promote collaboration among healthcare providers, policymakers, and communities to reduce the physical, social, and economic impacts of these diseases. Consequently, the 2026 national and international respiratory conferences will convene specialists in respiratory care, including pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, clinicians, primary care physicians, public health professionals, researchers, academics, healthcare technology innovators, policy advisors, health economists, students, and early-career professionals to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration. The discussions will focus on topics such as:
- Respiratory intensive care
- Airway diseases, asthma, COPD and chronic cough
- Respiratory infections
- Clinical Pulmonology
- Thoracic Oncology & Lung Cancer
- Sleep Medicine & Breathing Disorders
- Environmental & Occupational Lung Health
- Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Preventive Care
- Respiratory Pharmacology & Therapeutics
- Lung Transplantation & Advanced Therapies
- Future of Pulmonology – Research, Innovation & Unmet Needs
- Interstitial Lung Diseases
- Pulmonary Vascular Diseases
- Pleural Diseases
- Weaning from invasive ventilation - a multidisciplinary perspective
- The future of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) management
- Telemedicine and AI for home mechanical ventilation in the near future
- Multi-disciplinary care in respiratory failure: role of new drugs or interventions
- Real-world evidence, registries and clinical trial data
These events serve as platforms for pulmonary care professionals in India and globally to apply learnings from the scientific sessions and research findings to clinical practice, thereby enhancing the quality of respiratory care. Below is an overview of the 2026 conference calendar, highlighting significant scientific sessions on respiratory care in India and internationally (Table 1).
