Dupilumab may Improve Asthma Control and Lung Function in Chinese Patients: Study

China: Researchers have found in a 24-week subgroup analysis that dupilumab improved lung function, asthma control, and reduced exacerbations in Chinese patients with type 2 asthma who were not receiving maintenance oral corticosteroids (OCS). The treatment was also well tolerated during the study period.
- Dupilumab produced a significantly greater improvement in FEV1 at week 12 compared with placebo, with an LS mean difference of 0.34 L.
- Asthma control also improved, with a greater reduction in 5-Item Asthma Control Questionnaire scores at week 24 (LS mean difference, −0.19).
- The risk of severe asthma exacerbations was reduced by 74.2% with dupilumab compared with placebo (risk ratio, 0.258).
- Rates of treatment-emergent adverse events were similar between the dupilumab and placebo groups.
